Let’s talk wallpaper

A client was recently telling me: " I'm interested in adding wallpaper on some of my walls, but there are so many types available that it's become overwhelming for me to make a decision" If you can relate to this, continue reading to discover wallpaper options and determine what's best for your next project.

  1. Traditional Wallpaper: Traditional wallpaper is applied using wallpaper glue. It typically comes in rolls and requires careful measuring, cutting, and smoothing to ensure a seamless and professional-looking finish. Traditional wallpaper comes in various materials, patterns, and textures, allowing for endless design possibilities.

  2. Peel and Stick Wallpaper: Peel and stick wallpaper, also known as self-adhesive or removable wallpaper, is pre-pasted with adhesive backing that allows it to be applied directly to the wall without the need for additional glue. This type of wallpaper is easy to install and remove. Peel and stick wallpaper comes in a wide range of designs and can be repositioned and reused multiple times.

  3. Pre-Pasted Wallpaper: Pre-pasted wallpaper comes with a water-activated adhesive backing that is activated by soaking the wallpaper in water before application. Once activated, the wallpaper can be applied directly to the wall, eliminating the need for separate adhesives or glue. Pre-pasted wallpaper is easy to install and typically requires less mess and cleanup compared to traditional wallpaper.

  4. Vinyl Wallpaper: Vinyl wallpaper is made from a durable vinyl material that is resistant to moisture, making it ideal for use in kitchens, bathrooms, and other high-moisture areas. Vinyl wallpaper is available in a variety of styles, including embossed textures, faux finishes, and printed patterns. It is easy to clean and maintain.

  5. Textured Wallpaper: Textured wallpaper adds depth and dimension to walls with its tactile surface. It comes in a variety of textures, including raised patterns, embossed designs, and fabric-like finishes. Textured wallpaper can help camouflage imperfections in walls and create visual interest in any room.

  6. Fabric Wallpaper: Fabric wallpaper, also known as fabric-backed wallpaper, is made from a layer of fabric bonded to a paper or vinyl backing. It offers a luxurious look and feel and is available in a wide range of textures, patterns, and colors. Fabric wallpaper can add warmth and sophistication to any room but may require professional installation due to its weight and thickness.

  7. Mural Wallpaper: Mural wallpaper features large-scale images or designs that cover an entire wall or portion of a wall. Murals can be custom-designed or purchased as pre-made panels and are typically installed using traditional wallpaper paste or adhesive. Mural wallpaper can create a dramatic focal point in a room and is often used to showcase artwork and landscapes.
